Anesthesiology Program

When you undergo surgery at Barranca Surgery Center, you can be assured that you’ll have a competent, experienced board-certified anesthesiologist. Our anesthesia staff is focused on your safety and comfort, which is continuously monitored during your entire stay at Barranca. Our Quality Improvement program, which measures outcomes and complications, has indicated a consistently low or absent incidence of nausea and vomiting after anesthesia. The incidence of nausea and vomiting after patients undergoing procedures at Barranca Surgery Center, is well below the national average, at less than 1%.

Our anesthesia team is headed by J. Dean Mollner, M.D., the medical director at Barranca Surgery Center. He is on-site to screen patients peri-operatively and assess patients’ potential or existing medical problems. As medical director, he overlooks pain control in the postoperative period and directs the entire OR team to focus on quick and immediate treatment of pain. The anesthesia team targets pain control by giving medications during and after the procedure to keep patients’ pain at a minimum. Our patient surveys indicate that patients at Barranca Surgery Center were very satisfied with the treatment of pain and overall nursing care in our recovery unit.
